Crane Camera AI System

Alert the crane operator of the presence of workers directly under the boom.
The crane camera AI system uses AI-based image analysis technology
to recognize people from images taken by cameras installed at the end of the boom of mobile cranes,
and to notify the crane operator of the presence of workers directly under the crane.
Image analysis is performed in real time on an edge AI device housed in a trunk-type control box.
This terminal alerts the crane operator by displaying warnings on the monitor and emitting warning sounds,
thereby improving the safety of crane operations.

Features

  • Image analysis by AI is performed by cranes at the edge, without using the cloud or other networks.
  • The box with the edge AI device is small and lightweight, and can be easily installed in a narrow crane operation room.
  • The deep learning-based image recognition algorithm used in this system is built by using more than one million images collected from various scenes as teacher data.
  • The identification obtained by deep learning is characterized by being less sensitive to external factors than pattern-matching type systems that recognize specific pattern conditions such as the presence or absence of a helmet or the color of work clothes.

This system was jointly developed based on the AI application of Ecomot Co., Ltd. using crane camera images (teacher data) acquired at multiple sites.
